Hello! I’m Jerico, an ex-IBMer specializing in tools from the LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) stack and other web technologies (CSS, web services, jQuery).
I learned HTML back in 2000, then took a course in college about CSS and XML. Everything that came next: PHP, JavaScript, Linux, Apache, MySQL and a bunch of other things, were things I learned on my own with a lot of help from different people on the Internet. My biggest influences were the gurus at Experts Exchange.
Today, my work focuses mostly on designing distributed network architectures and fault-tolerant systems. I also write code, usually web services and shell scripts that support typical web sites and their processes.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Development Communication and later got a diploma in Computer Science. My first jobs were short-term research projects related to my undergradute degree; it’s only since 2006 that my IT career took off, starting with web development and network and system administration. I’ve worked with financial and education institutions, as well as with enterprises.
The kind of work I enjoy the most involves making the best out of web technologies, thinking outside the box, and making the world a smarter place to live in.
